Amelia is the daughter of noted explorer Sir Meredith Meadowcroft and grew up in a highly unconventional setting, moving around the world and living an adventurous life usually denied women of her era. She has a private income and is well-placed socially. Amelia has now passed up two eligible bachelors in London, for fear that marrying would tie her to a life of conformity.
